The girls excitedly showed Halabuji and Halmoni all their favorite parts of the kids museum last week. I got a kick out of the girls finding new things to try there, such as the sewing station which is Halmoni’s forte (for-tay spelling??) and the race car design that Komi tried with Halabuji.
We have been eagerly anticipating the opening of a new restaurant in town. The suspense started months ago when an old pizza joint was razed, and a several weeks later we noticed white pipes sticking out of the ground. We figured it was probably going to be a restaurant but couldn’t be sure until many many weeks later, we saw the final brickwork completed and shiny smokers out back. The sign “BBQ coming soon” brought anticipation, too. It opened nearly three weeks ago and we tried it out with Halmoni and Halabuji. The food tasted yummy and the girls liked the outdoor seating area.
We started out early by joining in on the town’s egg hunt. It was our first time and wow, the entire town showed up it seemed (I mean, even we were there!). The girls were excited to find eggs and candy, of course. Afterward, Unni climbed the inflatable slide and whizzed down. Then, we headed downtown to check out the Book Festival. We heard a storyteller read a book, picked up loads of free goodies and drinks, and even took photos with real-live ballerinas. Dad worked all morning and afternoon, and Halabuji golfed. Late afternoon, we all grabbed a picnic supper and ate by the lake. The girls played in the sand, and of course Dad fished. He caught a big ol’ catfish!
